Hi all

Wanted to share a custom bloodlines board I've had a lot of fun doing these past weeks.

First and foremost: This is a private and non-commercial/profitable project and some icons, images and ideas has been taken from other similar projects. Feel free to contact me regarding this.

That said; My playgroup and I often felt our table was a bit messy when everything was set up so I decided to have a go at a personal bloodlines board seeing as I have some InDesign experience.

Version 1 key takeaways:

  • 70x100 cm - too wide, needed more play area at the sides for leaders/agent/reveal cards
  • Board spaces too systematic and in line.
  • Inexperienced players forgot to look at contracts and tech (wanted these moved more centrally)
  • Intrigues sometimes had to be passed by neareast player, move this deck

Version 2 key takeaways:

  • 50x100 cm, feels good
  • Background too bright, tone it down.
  • Too much glow effect.
  • Dedicated discard area was not used, can be outside of board
  • Faction ladder needed clearer distinction. Sometimes people bumped wrong faction if they were not paying attention
  • "Battle for flags" was a bit annoying when placed on top of board space now that the board space was more narrow

Version 3 key takeaways:

  • "Upgraded" to AI images
  • Moved faction spies above the board spaces so it's more visible
  • Made place for currency bowls so they are easier to reach for all
  • This version is not playtested yet, so it will be interesting to see what comes up :-)

Playmats were printed as PVC banners as they are waterproof, non-tearable, cheap and have clear graphics. Biggest downside is probably they can feel a bit too smooth.

Thanks for reading.
