Hello all,
Budget: £1500 - £1800
My Monitor: AOC Q27G3XMN (1440p 180Hz)
I already have peripherals sorted so the budget is for the PC itself.
I'm trying to build a 1440p gaming pc. I want it to be somewhat future proof with a clear upgrade path so I've decided to opt for AM5 with the Ryzen 7 7800x3d & 9070XT. I would prefer it to be on the lower end of the budget but given RAM prices I have found this a little tricky.
I’ve opted for 6000 CL36 given current RAM pricing. Am I correct in understanding that CL30 will only provide 1-3% gains whilst gaming?
Any obvious weak points/changes you would make?
Not really interested in aesthetics/RGB — purely performance/value focused.
- CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D
- GPU: RX 9070 XT (Sapphire Pulse)
- Motherboard: MSI B650 Gaming Plus WiFi
- RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 CL36 - Crucial Pro DDR5 RAM 32GB Kit (2x16GB) 6000MHz CL36 (One of the cheaper ones I could find - still £349!?)
- SSD: 2TB Gen4 NVMe (likely WD SN770/Crucial T500 tier) - again prices are pretty high for these and I'm having a hard time finding an obvious choice. I've seen some preowned ones for around £175 with warranty. Getting a new SSD would be preferable but I'm open to suggestions.
- PSU: Corsair RM850e (2025)
- Cooler: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE
- Case: Montech AIR 903 MAX
