Going into first year BCom at U of A (foundational year) and wanted opinions on my schedules + course difficulty

Fall:

  • ECON 101
  • MATH 154
  • SOC 100
  • BUS 101
  • ENGL 103

Winter:

  • ECON 102
  • ACCTG 211
  • STAT 161
  • PSYCH 104
  • SEM 210

I attached screenshots of both schedules.

Main things I’m worried about:

  • Winter semester has ECON 102 at 10 AM MWF. I was debating taking it online/hybrid instead, but I’ve heard mixed things and apparently there’s peer marking/video assignments. I’m leaning toward in-person even though the commute + winter traffic will suck.
  • I had some tight 10-minute walks between classes in earlier versions of my schedule, so I moved things around to avoid constantly rushing across campus.
  • ENGL 103 filled up in the original spot I wanted, so now I moved it to Tue/Thu instead of stacking it with ECON + MATH on MWF.
  • I hate writing courses lol, so I’m trying to make ENGL as painless as possible.
  • SEM 210 and ACCTG 211 are currently giving me restriction messages even though they’re required for BCom, so I’m kinda confused/stressed about that.

A few questions:

  1. Do these schedules look manageable for first year?
  2. How difficult are these classes actually?
  3. Would you take ECON 102 in person or online?
  4. Are the gaps in my schedule normal/useless or do they end up being helpful?
  5. For SEM 210 and ACCTG 211, what usually happens with the restriction messages? Do they eventually open more seats/sections for first-year business students? Should I just keep them in my cart/watchlist and wait?
