Hi all - new here and just looking for advice from those who have tried something similar or any tradies or DIY experts that could share some ideas.

Myself and my partner have purchased our first home and the main bedroom has an “en-suite”. It’s effectively a shower room that is only segregated by a glass wall that doesn’t got to the top of the ceiling. It was done for accessibility reasons for the previous owner and we would like to gut it out and move back a wall from the smaller bedroom into where the shower currently is and knock out a cupboard to make the smaller bedroom bigger.

Ideally we would like to keep cost low hence wanting to try and do a lot of things ourselves. But we are conscious this could be a large job and would be interested how easy people have found the ripping out of a shower room/plumbing issues with capping it and what we need to be prepared for before attempting it. As well as any tips on the removal of walls and placing stud walls would be helpful!

If anyone has gone about something similar I would love to know how you honestly found it and whether it’s going to break the bank? Attached is the current floor plan and in red/brown is the new proposed idea to extend the smaller bedroom.
