*My theory on Jagar:*

I’ve noticed that the people who usually perform as ‘Devta’ or ‘Devi’ during Jagars are often illiterate or lack proper mental or financial support.

There was a guy in my village who performs Jagar. I’ve noticed that he is very strict about the rules. He always wants the biggest portion of the bakri meat, and of course, all the gifts that are offered at the Guru Devta / Negolu Devta temple. He comes across as a very greedy person.

I’ve personally seen that most of the men and women who become Jagaris use it as a financial aid in the name of Devidev. They scare you by saying that if you call it fake, the Devidev will punish you.

This world is a cruel place and everyone suffers from some problem or the other. They use your problems as a shield and claim, “This is happening to you because you didn’t accept them as Devidev.”

I mean, if they are really your saviors, if they are truly your Devtas and Devis, then why should you be afraid of them? Why do you have to offer them a bakri or chicken just to keep them happy?
