Fortifying fitted sheets
Combination of my husband moving his feet back and forth plus I guess scaly feet results in his fitted sheet being shredded at the bottom more than I'd like.
We sleep separately bc reasons, so this will be a twin sized sheet. (Saying the size of the sheet because reinforcing it means it wont be that heavy plus I am not worried about modifying or not modifying "my side.")
I was thinking how can I extend the life of new twin fitted sheets I purchased (as these aren't easily findable at the thrift like larger sizes) and I was thinking of sewing a rectangular patch of something towards the bottom. (Right now he is using a towel but I don't monitor whether the towel stays in place)
(Eventually I want to make fitted sheets out of larger thrift sheets but I have enough backlogged projects, and I don't like the idea of replacing sheets more regularly than normal for this reason).
I was thinking of making rectangles from old jeans pant legs and sewing them to the bottom, maybe 4 rectangles from a pair of pants, putting the denim on top of the sheet then stitching vertical lines within the denim.
I couldnt think of other material that would work. (Maybe dropcloth, but jeans are so much more available/almost free).
Thoughts/suggestions?
