Given that independent hikers have been banned from the Huayhuash Trek, I had to find a new route. My plan is to combine the Ancascocha Trek with the Salkantay Trek. Starting from Soqma, I would approach the glacier and then join the Salkantay route. The hike would be around 100 km. The first half would be completely self-supported with my own tent, while the Salkantay section is more touristy.
I haven’t found much information online about this specific route. Does anyone have experience with it? How feasible is it?
I mean in terms of whether there are very steep or technical sections, or if the whole route can be completed on foot relatively safely.
