Now that my two 7 gallon Kramer’s Supremes have stopped blooming I’m ready to repot them in these 20 gallon containers.

Instead of weighing them down with rocks on the bottom I put in these drainage inserts that have a fabric filter (not shown) which allows water to flow through the holes and leaves 3-4 gallons of empty space below them.

I’ll be filling the rest of the planter with Coast of Maine Acid-loving planting mix, which contains Sphagnum peat moss, composted manure and aged bark.

I’m wondering if I should add anything to it for increased drainage since it’s not specifically made for pots?? Would perlite be the best option or any other recommendations?
