Shadow Slave is peak, but...
Okay, I would like to start by saying that I love Shadow Slave. I've been reading it since 16th October last year, and have been caught up since 12th January this year. However, I do have some qualms with the story. Some things that make the plot predictable at times.
Sunny's Shadow Dance: it comes across as a cop out way to justify him basically being able to read all his opponent's moves without it being straight up plot armour. Not only that, but now Sunny can copy forms, attributes and aspects too. It also comes across as a cop out way to justify him learning every fighting style in ridiculously short periods of time.
Any "weave" ability: Soul damage used to be damn near fatal? Well, not anymore thanks to Soul Weave. Sunny has to survive a near death injury? Flesh Weave and Blood Weave to the rescue. It just seems like a way to shut up people who would say "Sunny shouldn't have survived that" by just giving him abilities that would let him. All Weave abilities seem like ways to accomodate cliche tropes without making it blatantly obvious.
No one in the main cast dies: The main cohort has remained untouched since the beginning. They suffer, sure, but no one ever dies. Mordret dies? Kindret takes over. Ananke died? (Not a part of the main cohort but still) Well, that was the nightmare version. Here's Ananke, alive and well, somehow. I'm also predicting that SoH will be alive in the 5th NM.
Sunny has never lost a single soul core: Sunny is the only supreme to have multiple soul cores but have never lost one. He never lost a single one of his 6 shadows. Even though he has Soul Weave, sure, he was going against the VTB! Does that not justify him losing just one?! No. Only Nephis and Mordret lose theirs, over and over again.
I don't really mind the repetitive "damnation" usage and other words or phrases. Idk why so many people complain about that. But these things really pmo at times.
