I am a freelance writer working on a research piece about the public charter school ecosystem in NYC. I came across many posts about Ascend Charter Schools, and am eager to dig in further.

Does anyone have any experiences they'd be willing to share? I have read of toxic staff treatment, extreme disciplinarian philosophies toward the children, a general lack of joy, underfunding, and noncompliance with state-mandated services. I am trying to gauge how universal this experience is.
