A few years ago, maybe like 5-6, my wife and I bought what we thought would be our starter fixer-upper. Definitely not a new house by any stretch, but we genuinely loved the idea of slowly renovating it and making it ours over time.

Then we had kids almost one after another. So suddenly our tiny house became way too small. What was cozy and cute now is like shrunk and we’re stepping over toys, laundry, and even each other.

About a year ago we decided it was probably time to move somewhere with a little more breathing room, so we listed the place. Honestly thought it would sell eventually if we were patient enough, but it’s been pretty much crickets the whole time.

The only serious “offer” we got was from my uncle, and let’s just say family pricing apparently means way below market value.

Recently I saw Bright Home Offer, mostly out of curiosity, and weirdly enough the number they gave us was actually a little higher than I expected. The biggest thing though is the speed and the idea of skipping months more of showings and waiting around sounds pretty appealing right now.

Has anyone here actually sold to one of these cash home buyers before? Did it go smoothly or did you end up regretting it later?

It’s a big place, but we could afford it, and the idea was to build a life here with kids, all the noise, the whole thing. My wife and I really thought this would be the place

Then she got diagnosed with cancer about seven years ago, and… she didn’t make it…

I’ve stayed here since, mostly out of habit I guess. But lately it’s been hitting me that this house doesn’t really fit my life anymore. It was meant for a full, busy family, not just me walking from room to room. I’ve been thinking it might be time to let it go and downsize, maybe let another family have a shot at making memories here

The weird part is that I’ve been trying to sell it for a while already. And a few people came to have a look, and things seem fine at first, but once they find out my wife passed away here… they just change their attitude to this place. You know this odd feeling like the vibe changed instantly and you can read it from their faces. People act like the place is haunted or something. And… part of me wishes it was, if it meant she was still around in some way

Anyway, I recentlyfound out that Jdub buys houses, and I’ve been wondering if it might just be easier to go that route and be done with it. Let someone else deal with selling it, and I can start fresh somewhere else

I don’t know. Feels like I’m ready to close this chapter, I just don’t know the best way to do it
