Long-time lurker, first time posting. Trying to figure this out 👀
I launched FieldLine on Product Hunt yesterday. Zero signups, barely any traffic. Sharing here because this sub feels like the right place to talk about it.
What it is: A phone system built specifically for US home-services operators — HVAC, plumbing, roofing, electrical. Dedicated phone numbers per technician and per ad channel, every call recorded and transcribed, AI summary on every call (name, service, urgency, address, callback time auto-extracted), and a structured lead card the moment the call ends. No softphone, no CRM to learn, two-minute setup.
The thing I'm most proud of: turning a 4-minute multi-speaker phone call into a lead card a dispatcher can act on in 10 seconds without listening to the audio. The AI extraction actually works.
How I got here: Solo dev. Spent years building on-demand custom apps for businesses in different niches. Finally got the courage to build something nobody asked me to build — something I think a specific kind of business is quietly looking for, even if they wouldn't phrase it that way.
That kind of business: anyone who lives and dies on phone calls. The same problems kept showing up across every project — missed calls becoming missed jobs, voicemails and sticky notes leaking leads, no clear answer to "is the marketing working?" because the phone bill and the ad reports never speak to each other. FieldLine is my attempt at the right shape of tool for a 4-person crew running between trucks.
Why I think the launch flopped:
- No audience. I don't post on social, no online presence whatsoever, no waitlist, no community to mobilize.
- Target customer isn't on Product Hunt. Home-service business owners aren't refreshing the leaderboard.
- "AI phone system" might read as a feature, not a category, to the people I'm trying to reach.
Where do I go from here?
I'm genuinely looking for feedback — on positioning, on the workspace UX, on whether the founding-member angle reads as authentic or gimmicky, and honestly on whether this product is useful at all or whether I should move on.
