Mail Day - A new crown jewel of my collection

AEOLIS, Kyme - AR Stephanophoric Tetradrachm, 155-140 BC

Obverse: Head of the Amazon Kyme right, wearing tainia

Reverse: Bridled horse prancing right, one-handled cup below raised foreleg; KYMAIΩN to right, ΣΤΡΑΤΩΝ below; all within wreath

16.27g, 33mm, AU | Obverse die matches Oakley #41

After I purchased the coin, I managed to trace the provenance back through two CGB auctions to the stock of Jules Florange, Paris, June 1966, placing its pedigree before the large Cilician hoard discovered in 1973. That stunning cabinet toning makes a lot more sense now.

Edit: I also believe the white residue in the left field of the obverse are remnants of an old collection number written directly on the coin.
