If you don’t have a Google Business Profile — or worse, you set one up two years ago and haven’t touched it since — the answer is probably more than you’d want to know.
Let me show you what I mean with real numbers.
The attached image shows one of the med spa's I work with whose Google Business Profile got 1,695 views in March alone. That’s 1,695 people who saw their business while searching for services in their area.
Now let’s do some conservative math.
If just 1% of those people booked a service, that’s 17 clients. That’s it. Just 17 out of 1,695.
Lets say only 5 out of the 17 booked an advanced treatment such as RF microneedling. At $1,000 per RF microneedling treatment, that’s $5,000 in revenue. From one month. From one platform. From less than 1% converting to RF microneedling.
For those who dont offer advanced treatments: if every single one of those 17 people booked a $150 facial instead, that’s still $2,550 — from people who found the business on Google without the spa spending A SINGLE DOLLAR on ads. Literally, not a single dime.
That’s the bare minimum. One out of every hundred people. Now imagine what happens when your profile is fully optimized, loaded with reviews, packed with photos, and actively posting — and that number climbs to 3%, 5%, 10%.
Now ask yourself: what does YOUR Google Business Profile look like right now? Is it complete? Is it active? Does it have recent photos, reviews, and posts? Or is it sitting there half-finished, collecting dust, while 1,000+ people a month search for exactly what you offer and scroll right past you to a competitor who actually filled theirs out?
The reality is that 87% of consumers read online reviews for local businesses before making a decision. 97% of consumers read reviews before visiting a business. 78% of people who search “near me” on their phone visit a business within 24 hours. And 46% of every single Google search has local intent — meaning nearly half the people using Google right now are looking for a business like yours in their area.
Your Google Business Profile is the first thing they see. Before your website. Before your social media. Before anything. (Although its worth noting that sometimes AI overview results now top Google Business Profile results - further strengthening the need for proper profile optimization.)
Fully completed profiles get 7x more clicks than incomplete ones and 70% more in-store visits.
The average small business gets 500-1,000 searches per month (depending on location) through their Google Business Profile — and many of those are discovery searches. That means people who have never heard of you are finding you (or not finding you) through Google right now.
So let me ask you this. When YOU need a new hairstylist, a facial, lash extensions, a massage — what do you do? You Google it. You look at the reviews. You look at the photos. You check the hours. You tap “Call” or “Book.” And you probably pick the business with the best reviews and the most complete, professional-looking profile.
Your clients are doing the exact same thing. Right now. Today. This morning. Last night.
Your Google Business Profile is not a “set it and forget it” listing. It’s the digital front door of your business. And right now, it’s either working for you or it’s working against you.
There is no in between.
If you want me to break down exactly how to set up your Google Business Profile the right way — step by step, storefront or mobile — plus the mistakes that can actually get your profile suspended, drop a “👋🏼” in the comments. If enough people want it, I’ll make it its own post.
