I've ordered a cheap second-hand IR modified Canon EOS 550d from MPB and it arrives in a couple of weeks.

There was no information on the site about it beyond it being "IR converted".

How should I go about discovering exactly what kind of modification my camera has? I know the bare basics about shooting in IR and this will be my first venture into the world of IR.

I don't have the camera yet but if there's a way to roadmap how to get up to speed with it that means I can get shooting with the thing sooner then I'm all ears!
