Historical Perspective - Suggs 3pt Shooting
The only players in NBA history to:
- average more than 5.5 3 point attempts per game
- in their first 14 playoff games
- with a worse 3 point % than Suggs (.265)
are Gilbert Arena, Evan Fournier and Isiah Thomas.
The only player I could find who was somewhat close to Suggs and eventually improved their playoff career 3 point % was Donovan Mitchell:
- First 14 Playoff games - 7.6 3pt Attempts per game at .308
- Playoff Career - 8.9 3pt Attempts per game at .350
I am not advocating trading Suggs or saying he is trash.
The data seems to suggest he is unlikely to become respectable 3pt threat in the playoffs.
I am open to being wrong or critiques of my analysis.
