Let's Meet : In Your Palace

Let us today get to know an unknown underdog on dirt racing.

Son of Palace Marice; brother of Justin Palace this guy is owned by the same entity as Gold Ship. Eichi Kobayashi is a person that care more on preserving "once famous but in a long slump" bloodlines rather than winning. But if his horse ended up winning anyway like Gold Ship, I'm sure he won't complain.

Now what about the actual horse? His 2 year old season is nothing remarkable; no wins, 2 on board placings. But after transfering to dirt in his 3 years old season surprisingly good; 4 wins in 7 races, only once he left the board. Getting to Open class in his classic year is great effort. Just one thing though; this guy seems allergic to win graded races. remember that 1 out of board race? Guess whenether its a Listed or Grade race one. He close the season without a grade win, a very rare occurence for 4 win in a year horse. But his owner dont care, preserving the bloodline

In the next year, he continue his grade win quest to no avail. 2 win, 5 second place (welcome back Meisho Doto), in 8 races. But he got 2nd in Tokai Stakes, so thats progress, right? RIGHT!? Until today, a grade win still eludes him.

Today, his tally is 6 wins in 20 races. But he only got out of board placing in 4 of those. That means this guy got 80% placing rate. WTF is this odds?! If i'm a betting man, I for sure bet on him to placed in any race he joins.

Let's remember: No Reason

Today 2 years ago, 2002 Satsuki Sho winner No Reason passed away at the age of 25 years old. His win was legendary; 15th favourite with 115:1 odds beating Tanino Gimlet for the first Crown. Not even his trainer, Yasuo Ikee thought he could win with such a stellar field that day. After that, he threw Take off his back at Kikuka Sho for no reason, ensuring another non favourite horses to win 1-2 in it.

He ran against legends such as God of Fence Destruction Tanino Gimlet, Two time Arima Kinen winner Symboli Kris S and The Grey Miracle Hishi Miracle as cotemporaries.

After he stand to stud, his 75 children isnt very good at running so he then retires, and occasionally join Soma Nomai parades for decades. Passing his days eating grass donated by his long time fans and meeting his retiree friends at Soma Nomai. When he entered Umamusume, the amount of grasses he got rise in amount to the happiness of his new owner Yoshimitsu Shikato, knowing his horse was still remembered by many.

May long he live in our memory for No Reason other than gratitude.

This is my post to introduce or remind us about Lupus Tesoro.

Son of Gold Ship and inheritor of everything but his racing talent, he's one of unremarkable foals ever borned. His owner is the same as his cousin Ushba Tesoro, Ryotokuji Kenji Holdings.

But his 2 years old season actually shows encouraging promises; winning 1 out of 3 races and never leaving the board. But his 3 years old is just bad; bombing all races and getting 14th in 2021 Satsuki Sho. After this he was moved to Dirt, winning his first ever race there with confortable margin. But again he showed promise and bombed after, never even reach podium in 3 years pf racing.

In the end Ryotokuji has enough and sold him in the middle of his 7 year old season. The one who bought him was a newbie owner; Yosuke Hara. He moved him to Saga racecourse to begin his new job at the tail end of 2025.

Now why do I hyping this guy? Because at Saga he is currently acing all of his races there. Until today he has never got lower than 3rd place. Also he is a chonker, weighting 548 kg in his latest race. That's biggest among Gold Ship foals, if I'm not mistaken.

How bout we analyze a bit? In JRA and NAR races, he usually races in middle distances and bombing almost all of then, winning only one. That means he dont have the stamina to sustain the speed needed to finish the full length of the race. But in Saga, all his races were 1400m of under, making him surprisingly actually a miler. This guy to me is like Hishi Akebono reborn.

Also another reason I'm hyping him because last race he has ran 50 races and thanks to his move to Saga won 8 of those 50. Not unlike his grandad, Stay Gold. But alasno Homg Kong Vase for him. He wont be as great as him sire or grandsire, but he at least running the same length with them.
