Designing a Travel Bag for Perfume Lovers — What Should It Include?

For all my fragrance lovers: my mom is preparing to launch a beauty brand centered around a travel cosmetic bag designed specifically to keep your perfumes safe, organized, and protected while traveling.

We’re currently testing product samples and would love feedback from frequent travelers and fragrance lovers. What are some must-have features you’d want in a travel bag made for storing perfumes/fragrances?

For example:

  • Protection against leaks or breakage
  • Compartments for full-size bottles vs. travel sprays
  • Easy TSA-friendly storage
  • Space for other beauty essentials
  • Durable/water-resistant materials

Any ideas, pain points, or features you wish existed would be super helpful as we continue refining the product. Open to any thoughts or suggestions—thank you!

Best Tips for Launching a Beauty Travel Cosmetic Bag Brand?

My mom is preparing to launch her own beauty brand focused on travel cosmetic bags designed for skincare, makeup, fragrances, and other beauty essentials. This is a brand-new venture for both of us, so we’re trying to figure out what we should prioritize first before diving in too fast.

For those who have launched a product-based brand before, what would you focus on first?

  • Branding, positioning, and messaging?
  • Product development/manufacturing?
  • Operations and logistics?
  • Marketing/social media?
  • Or is it truly a little bit of everything at once?

For context, I work in social media/content creation, so one area I feel strongly about is helping my mom build a personal brand alongside the business. She’s a woman in the beauty space with real experience and a unique story, and I believe people are more likely to connect with the brand if they first connect with her — her expertise, personality, and journey. I’m really interested in a founder-led marketing strategy where she builds trust and brand awareness through content before heavily pushing product sales.

That said, I also don’t want us to overlook the operational side of launching a physical product brand. For anyone who’s been through this process, what do you wish you had focused on earlier? Any mistakes to avoid, lessons learned, or advice for first-time founders would be incredibly helpful.

Thanks so much!
