Help with fixing rusted cast iron
I got a new cast iron pan (lodge brand) in October and used it one time. I didn't get a chance to clean it properly before my husband ended up in the hospital, and the pan sat with old food oil in it for over a week before we got to come home. I cleaned it then, but it was already ruined. Now I've just set it to the side until I could get to it. What is the easiest way to fix this? Coarse salt? Vinegar? Lye? I see so many options and I don't know what's best. Its only the cooking surface that needs help; the bottom, sides, and handle were dry and unaffected.
