P&C engineers, what kind of control and instrumentation cables do you use?

I was wondering what types of cables are being used for control and instrumentation in substations around the world.

I am working at a DSO in Europe, where the older control systems typically use non-shielded PVC-insulated cables, whilst the newer ones use shielded (braid + foil) PVC-insulated.

I was wondering whether it is worth it to invest in shielded cables for EMC-protection, and if there are any real world cases where insufficient EMC-protection has caused issues such as false readings, trips, etc.

Do you use shielded or unshielded cables?
If shielded, is it braided, foil or both, and why?

Do you use different cable types for different applications, e.g. only shielded for analog signals?

Are you aware of any interesting reports, studies, articles etc. on the topic?

Thanks in advance!
