I did have a shower thought concern, though.

Lucia Mar's Rottweilers are just dogs. We know this from coverage of her on the nightly report, and >! it was confirmed they didn't eat a super biscuit and change when they hit the 3rd floor because of what the NPC's and such said about them after the Desperado Club incident. So, unless Lucia is using some sort of obfuscation to hide the fact that the Rotties are actually something more now... !<

Her Fluffybutt Majesty, Princess Donut, however, ate a super biscuit from the jump, and is not a pet anymore. She's a party member. She's a Crawler.

If our intrepid idiots... I mean, heroes... if our heroes make it to the 18th floor, what happens? I know it's unlikely. I know nobody's done it in millennia of dungeons. Just go with me down this rabbit hole a tiny ways. The 18th floor was described as having two entrances and one exit. That gave me the impression that this was, in fact, a battle royale. There can only be one winner.

But Carl and Donut are two separate people. Am I watching a car crash in 8+ books of slo-mo?

Dinniman, you better not make me choose. I will pick the Princess. Her godlike charisma has charmed me!

ETA: I forgot to mention this part! Frankie Q and May My? Frank and May? Uh... weren't they Spiderman's uncle and auntie?

"Dungeon Crawler Carl" (book 1, 2020, 450pp.) by Matt Dinniman

I don't read Fantasy, but I do have FOMO. A bunch of the booktubers I watch had this (or some entry from the series) in their 2025 wrap-ups, and they all said it was so funny, a must-read of the year. Of course, my peer-pressure party goblin heard that, took the wheel (and my credit card) and "oops, that must've fallen in the cart" bought it for me.

This book was funny. Like, you know when you text your friend back "LOL" but you didn't actually LOL at all? Yeah. This isn't that. This is the balm that counterbalances all those times you faux-lol'ed to mollify your unfunny friend.

I actually LOL'ed reading this book. I don't LOL lightly. I have RBF and ABF, for chrissakes.

Carl reminds me of Ash from the "Evil Dead" movies. Just me? OK. Moving on...

I hope to be reincarnated as Princess Donut in my next life. Dinniman, you better not let anything happen to her! I will go John Wick scorched Earth... with style.

The announcer reminds me of Claptrap from "Borderlands". ACHIEVEMENT! You are among the top 1% most irritating robots ever invented! REWARD! Negative .75 stars and a giant bowl of STFU!
