UPDATE: maintenance came over to my car a little over an hour ago and let me know they think it’s fixed, the unit somehow switched to where it was blowing both cooling and heating? But they said they’ve completely disabled the heat setting for now. My cats are all sleeping at them moment but so far none have gone to drink water/ move around much since getting them cooled off. I am about to head inside and see if it’s cooled off enough for me to bring them back in. I plan to continue to monitor them and once my vet opens tomorrow I will be calling to see if they have any concerns or if they want me to bring them in to be looked at!

Hello, I am a first time poster and also not someone who is on social media often so if anything is off/awkward I’m sorry! This morning I woke up and the ac was out, the temp at 7am this morning was 81 degrees. I immediately called my landlord as I live in a multi story historic building and I told him someone needed to be out here ASAP. I couldn’t call out and ended up having to go into work but my landlord said someone would be out promptly. I kept trying to get in contact with him as much as I could at work but I could only text bc my job is incredibly strict about phones, and he would not get back to me no matter what. I rushed home as soon as I got off at 12:30 and made it back by 1pm to find that no one had been by and my apartment felt like an awful sauna. I have 5 cats, one about to be 6, three that are all a 1 1/2 old, and an older kitten who is about 6 months. 3 of the 5 are medium-long haired and i am sick with worry right now. I came in and all of them were showing the first signs of being overheated. As quickly as I could I brought them all down into my car and set the ac to 78 and medium strength to start cooling them down as well as bringing a bowl of cool, not cold water down for them to drink. It’s been an hour and over the course of it I’ve slowly lowered it to 68 but two of my cats are still not in the best shape, while one is hiding and I haven’t been able to check on her as much. Any recommendations on ANYTHING I can do to help/ things I should be monitoring would be welcome. The only vets open near me are emergency vets and I don’t have the funds to take them all, I just went through a bout of all of them being sick a couple months ago after bringing in the kitten and I spent about 1.5 k which was all of my savings and I maxed out my pet credit card. Please help as they mean the world to me.

Pictures for the boosting

TLDR: I am 25(f) and I live in the US, three of my cats are male and two are female. I have contacted vet and are doing what they advised at moment but I can’t afford to go until my regular vet opens tomorrow as it is all of my cats that are needing help atm, they were left in a hellscape for who knows how long as my landlord was ignoring me for hours and I need tips/advice on how I can best care for them right now.
