I am an italian citizen raised in US and currently living in Abruzzo. I notice SO many Expats moving to Scalea in Calabria. I am from California where we care about the environment and even here in Abruzzo I pick up sacks of garbage every day on the beach. I would love to know if the beaches are clean in Scalea area with more expats being a part of the community or do they just ignore the trash like my fellow Italians? I really want to live somewhere I can swim in the sea without floating plastic.
