More than a singer: Jessica Sanchez finds her voice in motherhood!

Beyond being known as the grand champion of ‘America’s Got Talent Season 20’, it is also surely vivid to those who have watched Jessica Sanchez’s journey how she was able to claim her victory while bearing a child.

“The talent show, well I was 9 months pregnant, so that was very stressful. Also, my stomach was kind of big, so I kind of taught myself how to sing with my diaphragm and everything. That was a challenge in itself.”

From then on, Jessica has been proud of the idea that people are starting to recognize her as more than just “the singer”, but also a mother, and someone who has viewed her motherhood as her ‘eureka moment’ towards her long-awaited success.

“I felt like the Lord was giving me a chance to shift my identity from just being music to now just being Jessica, being a mother, a wife, a friend, and a sister. It wasn’t just about ‘Oh I’m just a singer’.”

So, what comes after Mommy Jessica’s win?

Jessica recently released her new eight-track album “Szn”, which talks about returning to her musical passion that became her road to winning. It also marks her first full-length album since her 2013 debut, “Me, You & The Music."

“The whole idea of “Szn” is kind of like the seasons that I’ve gone through, the season that I’m in right now... I felt like the Lord was telling me that this was my season, this was my time… ‘Season’ is the word that really stuck to me last year.”

Moreso, she revisits the Philippines to announce her upcoming “Live in Manila 2026” concert on May 16, where she will be performing with the FIlipino singing icons Gary Valenciano, Regine Velasquez, Martin Nievera, Morissette, Darren Espanto, James Reid, and Vice Ganda.

During the press conference held in Novotel Manila Araneta City on May 11, Jessica emphasized that she wants to be more ‘vulnerable’ and authentic as she gives fans a chance to know her beyond her performances.

She also looked back at the intimate moments during her pregnancy as to how music became her channel to deepen her connection with her daughter, stating the songs “Golden Hour” and “Risk It All” are two of the closest to heart.

“My daughter, when I was pregnant, and I was performing it, she would kick a lot to that song. And now, when she cries, and I play that song, she’ll just stop and stare. And so, I feel like that is really special to her, and that makes that song very special to me.” (Golden Hour)

“That song, “Risk It All” by Bruno Mars, when I sing that song and I sing it to her, I just want to cry.” (on her willingness to give up everything for her daughter)

Returning to the same stage after 20 years, from just a kid to being a mother, Jessica Sanchez’s inner child spoke to her (literally when she had a child inside of her), reminding her about the grit to make a name in the music industry–because she believes she is truly deserving.

And while there are women who fear that motherhood might ruin their cherished career or jeopardize their dreams, here is Jessica Sanchez, proving to us that being a mother is just as beautiful and can even become a woman’s breakthrough.

Jessica Sanchez teases homecoming concert surprises

Jessica Sanchez shared exciting teasers and surprises for her ‘Live In Manila’ concert on May 16 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

In a press conference ahead of her big homecoming show, the Filipina-American singer talked about what she prepared for her fans and opened up about her experiences as a singer and a mom.

“There’s gonna be a lot of amazing things happening on the show, you’re not gonna want to miss it. I have amazing guests that are gonna be there,” Sanchez told the media.

Among her special guests are Vice Ganda, Morissette, Darren Espanto, James Reid, Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, and Regine Velasquez.

Sanchez said that she will be highlighting her decades-long singing journey, from when she first auditioned for ‘America’s Got Talent’ at 10 years old to becoming the grand champion of season 20 in 2025.

After her newly released album ‘Szn,’ Sanchez announced that she is also currently working on a new Tagalog EP.

“I’m also very excited to release much more music,” said Sanchez. “I’m also working on maybe releasing a Tagalog EP. I’m very excited for that as well.”

Sanchez said that she hopes to collaborate with many more Filipino artists and recalled sharing a stage with ‘The Voice Season 26’ champion Sofronio Vasquez, whom she called ‘awesome.’

While preparing for the concert, Sanchez admitted that giving birth had affected her voice and hormones, making the experience challenging. She had been practicing various vocal techniques to keep her voice healthy.

Tickets for ‘Jessica Sanchez Live In Manila 2026’ are still available.

Twenty-four team members performing a 90-second routine is what makes ‘Super 24’ unique from the other dance competitions. A Singaporean entrepreneur and its creator, Kenny Low, emphasizes the importance of synchronization and unity on a dance floor, sharing about his original inspiration – Japan's ‘31 Legged Race’.

“At the end of the day, whichever team that can move the hands of the judges in 90 seconds deserves to be the Super 24." - Kenny Low (Creator of Super 24)

This super challenge sparked its “Super Season” that runs from April 6 to August 31, 2026, allowing different participating countries to commence their qualifier battles. Held last April 25, the Filoil San Juan Arena blazed as six groups competed for the ‘Super 24 PH Qualifier 2026’.

Among the renowned attendees were the ‘Stars on the Floor’ dance coaches, MJ Arda and Angel Datanagan, who were thrilled to finally watch their rigorously mentored team, the A-Team, perform again after the ‘Open Category Finals’ in Singapore back in 2018.

“A-Team’s piece for today is actually very fun, but at the same time nando’n pa rin ‘yung very high level of difficulty… so I feel 'yung main challenge talaga dito is the pagod." - Coach Angel Datanagan (Member of A-Team)

While the team arrived as a guest performer, Coach MJ and Coach Angel admitted that the 'Super 24' stage layout still puts pressure on anyone who performs on it.

“It’s quite tricky because you kind of have to perform four routines because you have to be able to perform for four sides and four judges." -Coach MJ Arda (Director of A-Team)

After being judged in different corners amidst a limited duration, only one among the six teams has been qualified to advance to the ‘Finals’ in Singapore. The Square One Crew (SQ1) from Davao City proved that not just a few, but all 24 members of their team are SUPER when it comes to dancing.

“We are very proud to represent the Philippines, and we will bring more, and they should expect more from us." - SQ1 (Super 24 PH Grand Champion and Qualifier)

Coach MJ wishes the ‘Super 24’ to get bigger and hopes that his team becomes an integral part of the dance journey of the future battle joiners. Aside from allowing every team member to be seen while they perform, Kenny envisions the ‘Super 24’ to become a platform where diverse cultures are mirrored through dancing.

Aurora Music Festival 2026 celebrated its fifth and biggest year at Clark Global City, Pampanga, May 2 and 3.

Music fans gathered at the two-day festival headlined by today’s biggest names in OPM, SB19 and IV of Spades.

P-pop group SB19 set the stage on fire with their powerful choreography and electric performances that got the fans dancing and jumping.

Afterwards, IV of Spades kept the energy going with “Mundo,” “Come Inside of My Heart,” and their 2025 comeback song “Aura” to name a few.

Day 1 lineup included crowd favorite “hugot” bands Ben&Ben, who performed "Lifetime" and "Saranggola," and December Avenue, who made the night more emotional with "Saksi ang Langit" and "Sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan" among their other relatable hits.

Meanwhile, acclaimed singer-songwriter Armi Millare set an intimate atmosphere as she sang staple OPM songs “Tadhana” and “Unti-unti.”

On day 2, SexBomb Girls proved they still got the moves, while Kitchie Nadal touched hearts with beloved classics “Pag-ibig”, “TL Ako Sa’yo”, and “Ligaya.”

Legendary rock bands brought on a wave of nostalgia when Kamikazee frontman performed "Narda" with Parokya Ni Edgar's Chito Miranda.

Though she was expected to perform on day 1, Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo withdrew at the last minute due to health reasons.

Festivalgoers also enjoyed various food stalls and interactive booths across the grounds, as well as firework displays at the end of the night.

Once famous for its hot air balloons, Aurora Music Festival has now established itself as one of the biggest musical events in the country after five years, curating different lineups of Filipino artists every summer as a celebration of OPM.

Dancing is a learned skill as much as it is a natural talent. Though it can be intimidating and physically demanding, research shows that it comes with great mental health benefits. But how do you start dancing, and how do you become better at it?

Practice makes perfect is the principle best applied to dancing. By being consistent in your workout and dance routines, your muscles loosen up and your body memorizes the rhythm.

“Don’t stop dancing, just continue training,” Coach Angel of GMA’s dance show ‘Stars On The Floor’ told ATM Live. “[You] progress every step of the way. Each day you get to improve.”

Behind every flawless choreography is countless rehearsals. You can enroll in a dance class or practice by yourself at home with the help of online videos. Just like with other sports, it’s a matter of persistence and determination to push past your limits until you grow more flexible and controlled in your movement.

The main challenge that comes with dancing is the fatigue as you go over every step hundreds of times everyday to achieve flawless precision, but the final result is an art worth breaking a sweat for and pouring your time into.

Most of all, dancing is a fun hobby and exercise that should be enjoyed, whether you’re a beginner, a professional, or getting back into dancing.

“Just enjoy on stage,” said Coach MJ.

At Super 24 2026 Philippines, where six teams competed for a chance to represent the country at the grand finals in Singapore, Coach Angel also told her team to have fun on stage although it may be nerve-wracking and their choreography is challenging.

Missteps happen, but you must overcome your frustrations and focus on mastering your skill.  Through repetition, you lose your nerves and gain confidence until you only feel happiness and excitement while dancing.

The OPM hearts of Gen Zs and ‘trentahins’ are blissful as the ‘Aurora Music Festival 2026’ celebrates its 5th anniversary with their most-awaited line-ups for Day 1 and Day 2.

After the unexpected yet truly wanted reunion of all four members of IV of Spades, the band was proud to introduce themselves once again to thousands of attendees, as one of the event's headliners.

“Dahil sa inyo, ang imposible ay naging posible” – IV of Spades

Every beat of their comeback song “Aura” was accompanied by a firework display and the crowd who sang along while waving their phone flashlights—a moment that marked their burning passion on-stage and left everyone in goosebumps.

“Ito ang kanta ng aming pagkakaibigan” – IV of Spades

Meanwhile, the A’tin fandom dominated the crowd once again, creating a sense of déjà vu as SB19 stepped onto the same stage and returned as a headliner after their appearance at the ‘Aurora Music Festival 2024’.

"Again, this is our home, this is our zone. This has been SB19" – SB19 Pablo

While these groups are true icons for Gen Zs, the ‘trentahins’ did not fall behind vibing with their idols. Para sa mga pinalaki ng SexBomb and those who were unable to watch ‘rAWnds 1-6’ of the fresh comeback of SexBomb Girls were given a chance as the iconic girl group performed on the Clark Global City open grounds for the first time.

“Mula sa backstage, kinikilig talaga kami. Dahil sa inyo kaya kami nandito ngayon” – SexBomb Rochelle

With Day 2 (May 3) labeled as the “Trentahin Lineup”, the rock band legends Parokya ni Edgar and Kamikazee are also back, but this time, with Kitchie Nadal (all the way from Spain). The classic videoke hit “Narda” was picked for the ‘KMKZ x Chito Miranda’ duet, while Kitchie paid tribute to the OPM masterpieces and performed her own version of “Pag-ibig”, “TL Ako Sa’yo”, and “Ligaya”.

“Sana magkaroon ng collab ang Parokya at IV of Spades” - Chito Miranda

“Recently released na sa music platforms ‘yung Kitchie Nadal Medley” - Kitchie Nadal

Band icons Ben&Ben and December Avenue, along with singer-songwriter Armi Millare, also performed on May 2, kickstarting the OPM spirit of the fans and casual attendees.

Aurora Music Festival’s half-decade milestone indeed delivered a “festival of music” that catered to nostalgia, proving that the music that we vibed into as we were growing up never goes obsolete. The two-day event not only awakened the crowd’s love for OPM, but it also fused their inner child and the present as they resonated with the timeless hits.
