Recommendation before purchase - Miele? Shark? Something else?

Living in Australia - looking for recommendations.

My current thoughts are either a Miele Guard L1 or a Shark power upright (both corded).

Here’s all the details, hope this helps 🙏

4 bedroom house with 3 flights of stairs, stairs all carpeted. One big flight and two 5 step flights.

80% of the house is carpet, except for the hallway (tiled), bathroom 1 (tiled), bathroom 2 (lino) and kitchen/laundry (Lino).

We often have pets visit or house pets (dogs) though they are the groodle variety with wirey hair so dog hair is not a huge deal, but want some ability to deal with it.

Also, both me and my partner have long hair. The battery upright we have today is not powerful enough for the carpet and also the spinning head gets hair tangled in it easily. When hair gets stuck in the head it’s easy enough to snip out with scissors (don’t mind doing this).

I’m a bit worried about getting an upright with all our carpeted stairs, maybe that will be annoying?

I’m also paranoid about vacuuming any wet surface as a long time ago I think I ruined a stick vacuum by getting the dust filters wet (not with the vacuum we currently have). Is this a thing with all vacuums? Should I be worried about this with the shark or the Miele, or whatever you recommend?

Budget up to 1000 Aussie dollars. Hoping to buy something that will last us a decent time with proper care (like 10-15years? Is that too much to expect these days?)
