So, I had the opportunity to move to different store, last month. My new store is 6 minutes from my house. I live near an affluent city, so this particular HD has better clientele. I am a flooring/window treatment specialist. My last store, there was a lot of sticker shock after people got their free measure. Anyhow, the new store is fun because you get to sell more.
My first day at the new store was a trip. One by one 9 people came to me and told me the full time flooring specialist is a nightmare. She steals sales, is vulgar, and she even steals food and beverage. They tell me Don’t bring in an icy coffee, or this trick will look you dead in the eyes and say she paid for it. My COSs told me I can come back to vent, get a hug, or sing a funny song they made up about her whenever I need to. She used to work at a circus, so she uses her carnival skills to yell at customers for a free measure. If you are working with a customer, she interrupts and says super loud “Darling, we don’t work on commission I help you darling.”
So when I finally met this Trick, She tells me over and over again “you don’t belong here. If I were the boss, you wouldn’t be her. I eat lunch with Ted Decker.” Then she goes on to say weird shit like “you don’t have 401k. I have pension. My house is paid for.” She repeats the part about owning a house at least 20 times a day. I actually had to google her to see this house, and it’s in a pretty bad part of town, not really a flex. She uses the F word constantly. She breaks all kind of rules, she’s incredibly disrespectful. She has insulted my family, where I am from and my work history. I’ve never met anyone more annoying and gross.
My COSs are amazing. They were the ones that told me she’s a thief, and that management does nothing because she is a top sales in our district. And they know: she is not special. The store is near an affluent neighborhood, sales are high and she’s a thief.
A week after I started, another new flooring specialist was hired. The Trickster lady told him “I not train you, I not get paid to train anyone.” The new guy and I instantly bonded over how bat shit crazy she is. I trained him.
He and I worked together, and I made sure he set up some measures. He’s from a different industry, but a super cool dude that I see will pick it up with some practice.
Yesterday, the COSs told me the Trickster stole one of the new guys sales, for 12k. Then I looked up his sales, she took over all of his sales. So, she’s full time. Won’t train anyone new. I’m new but from a different store, and I help the new guy get sales—-then she turns around and steals his sales. While the COS are upset, management does NOTHING.
Yesterday was also the wrong day for me to find this out: corporate rolled in from Atlanta to give the Trickster a sales award. Then I over heard them say to her “I bet you are an inspiration to the new associates” that’s when I chimed in and said “actually on my first day she told me I don’t belong her and she’d fire me if I were the boss and that she eats lunch with Ted Decker.” Of course she was like “that not true! That not true!”
When Tricky walked away I let the Atlanta crew know the entire store can’t stand her and she shouldn’t be getting awards, she should be punished for canceling sales and rewriting them in her name. No one in the 8 years she has worked her has lasted more than a few months. They all leave bc of her. The evening specialist is just resigned to the fact his orders are stolen, no one cares, and he is retiring in a few years. I however, have been waiting 2 years to be hired full time.
Probably nothing will happen to her. Thanks for reading. I’m just so annoyed. Also, not to be petty but it’s a rule at THD the we can’t wear sandals. She does. And she needs pedicure. Probably a post for a different place, but size 10 old crusty feet of a woman are so gross and unprofessional.
