I'm looking for a controller I can use when I'm traveling, which isn't often in all honesty. 3 times a year, mainly when I go to conventions. I love me my gacha games so I really hate to miss out on doing my dailies. I'd be using it for Genshin, ZZZ, HSR, Wuwa, and maybe NTE?
Due to the infrequency I would use this product I'm not sure if I should just go for something cheap that gets the job done or get a more "premium" one since while I don't travel often I hope it will last for several years to come, and it might fit better in my hands too.
At the moment I'd be playing on a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, with decent to mid battery life. I plan to upgrade my device within the next 2 months to either the latest iPhone or S26 Ultra.
I've narrowed it down to GameSir G8 Plus MFi, 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller and the razer Kishi v3 (maybe pro model?) I also did look at GameSir G8 Galileo, and the regular G8 Plus.
One thing I don't really want to deal with is having to download additional apps since I think the games I play are mainstream enough that I should just be able to plug and play and shouldn't need to tweak any settings I could be totally wrong though. Is the latency from using BT versus connecting via USB-C that noticeable, if it all? If I connect via BT can I still pair my earbuds or do I need wired earbuds? Lastly, is there one with PlayStation button icons? I primarily play on my ps5 or pc with keyboard and mouse. Tried Genshin with an xbox controller and my brain could not make the transition and I really struggled to play for some reason lol. This last point is the least of my worries though, just a brain aesthetic thing I suppose.
I'd appreciate any advice or input! Am I overlooking something? Is there maybe a better controller for me than the 3(or 5) I listed?
