I am hoping this community can give me some advice. My family is getting their affairs in order. The estate is mostly going to me. I have siblings that are unable to be put on the estate due to their mental state. My parents are going through an assets and aging guy that has supposedly been doing this for 40 years. They want to set up a special needs trust for my siblings portion of the estate. I would have POA over their trust or have a fiduciary handle it. The other option is a basic split but this option is supposed to protect their money so the state cant come after their assets. I, however, am worried about my assets and liability. From what I have researched it looks like I would not be liable for their care . I , however, would like some advice on other ways to handle this or if anyone has been through a similar situation. This is in California,btw.
