I am a pre service teacher and i’m currently doing a uni assignment that requires me to create a summative assessment which will be done with one student during 2x 90 min lessons. I am looking for a year 5 teacher to let me know if i’m on the right track.
I am looking to create a summative assessment for the code: create and edit literary texts, experimenting with figurative language, storylines, characters and settings from texts students have experienced

Does this mean student adapt a pre existing literary text, eg Harry Potter and use for example characters or settings to create their own story or does it mean just creating their own story after deconstructing a literary text.
I was thinking the summative assessment for this code could be for students to decide on a literary text that they have read before and decide on what aspects they would keep or change - they then plan and create their own new text

The student and teacher would deconstruct a familiar literary text. Students will then move onto planning and creating their own text.
Planning would be creating a mindmap, worksheet that outlines settings, characters, events, figurative language, etc and a visual storyboard as evidence of their development. This would lead to students create and edit their own narrative.
