For context we both graduated high school last year and still live with our parents. When my friend first started driving two years ago, he would ask me every now and then for gas money which I was perfectly fine with since it was his car and he didn't have a job yet. I'd pay him around 10 dollars any time he asked, and more if the drive was longer.
It eventually got to the point where I was expected to pay him some money for every ride, which i felt was a little extreme since he'd ask for money even when he was the one who initiated the hang out but whatever it's fair I guess. Anyway a couple of days ago, I was joking with my other friend about how he's always asking for gas money, he then informs me his dad has been paying for his gas since he got his license.
I don't know what to feel right now. I have been very close with this person since the start of high school he's and he is firmly embedded into our friend group, and I don't want to break everyone up because of this. Is it worth talking to him about it? I value his friendship but I just don't see a way of resolving this situation. If I'm making a big deal out of nothing please inform me in the replies.
