By design, my MS has long chapters, around 10k each. If the agent is asking for the first 4 chapters, that's 40k words (included within that is a prologue and interlude).

What do I do here? Follow the letter of the request, or shorten to not seem unreasonable?​

edit: looking back, I oversrated this some. chapters vary between 4k-10k, with the average around 5 or 6k. total WC is 99k. upmarket/literary with spec elements
