I just want Nice Nails

I just got my nails done GelX for the first time today
I have gotten acrylic in the past from nail salons and don’t like how thick they are, I even told the new nail tech I saw this..
I feel like they aren’t done the best? Is this standard? I really don’t want thick undersides but not sure how thin they can even be?

Also under the UV light they burned BAD! I didn’t say anything for some reason maybe I should have because they just feel off, like too tight or uncomfortable but that’s kinda how acrylics have felt on me in the past

I just really want to find a tech who doesn’t do a sloppy job, leave gel on the sides of my fingers, doesn’t pay attention to my cuticles… how do I even find someone like that?! So many at home nail techs In my area, do I just ask all these Q’s to them?! Ha

On the bright side this set was free, I had won a giveaway and honestly her IG looks great.. I’m just kinda like hmm the attention to detail isn’t really there. And I’m worried they look slanted ? Idk they look off!

Is it hard to start doing your nails yourself? Is there a kit I can buy? I’m open to learning how to DIY my nails.
