Interned with a regulatory body for 3 months in 2024.

I thought I would be interested in research and hence I appeared for UGC NET exam. Recently got JRF with an under 50 rank. If I do give it a focused shot, I would probably end up in an IIT or IIM for a PhD by next year. But now, I am not sure whether I even want to pursue a PhD. I was actually interested in regulatory bodies after my internship and gave those exams. Reached mains several times but couldn't clear. The gap years are increasing and I am panicking at the moment.

I have always been intrigued by an MBA from tier-1 colleges but was always sceptical due to the financial burden that comes with it. The loan, the everyday expenses, all that and more.

Should I appear for CAT and shift my focus from research to corporate? How plausible it is given my gap years? How much percentile should be a minimum target if I do?

Before somebody asks me about my goals- I need to earn good money. Lol!! One of the reasons academia isn't appealing anymore. It's not that well paying and the rewards are very delayed.
