Trying to decide which curriculum to use for my first grader next year. We will be using All About Reading and Dimensions for math and reading. Oak Meadows, Moving Beyond the Page, and Harbor and Sprout have all been recommended. I was leaning towards Harbor and Sprout, but after seeing a monthly sample, I felt completely overwhelmed by the amount of “moving parts”. So now I’m leaning towards Oak Meadows or MBTP. He has a hard time paying attention unless it’s something that is really interesting to him. He can sit through children’s books, but he has a hard time when I read chapter books. He picks things up quickly, but just has a hard time focusing. I want something that’s a little more outlined, but isn’t going to have me stressed if I don’t complete the “plan” for the day. With the kindergarten curriculum we used (put together by our charter) it was pretty open-and-go. I did love that, but I think I could also put in some effort, just not what the harbor and sprout looked like. What are your experiences? Or recommendations?
