How far in advance of your tanning session do you guys dose? Minutes? Hours? Days? Going in for my first tanning session this afternoon. F scale 2

Apparently, I am behind the times and just discovered this. I am 42 female and very fair skinned. I am leaving for the Bahamas in 39 days. I would like to try this, but I am unsure how to get started or dosages. My main goal is to keep from burning so badly although a great tan would be phenomenal as I’ve never had that in my life could anyone recommend a good starting point for me?
