Cancellation confusion
I tried to cancel a holiday inn booking for a reservation in 5 days. I thought I had selected a semi flexible rate because I was unsure at the time of booking if I would be able to make the event I was supposed to attend. I called up igh reservations to cancel and when I did, they told me that the semi flexible rate didn’t let me cancel five days in advance, however they also informed me that I didn’t have a card on file and was never charged the one night rate I should have been. I was recommended by the individual I talked to on the phone from reservations to just cancel my reservation. They said that I would not be charged because there was never a card on file and they were unlikely to come after me for such a low reservation rate. But I don’t want to be gone after for not paying and I am considering calling the front desk tomorrow to talk to a manager. Unsure what I should do and if anyone has any recommendations or thoughts?
