CMV: non offending pedophiles shouldn’t be stigmatized and shamed, and rather treated for their mental illness.
I absolutely hate and condemn all sexual crimes in general, and especially against children. The problem I have with the way society treats pedos is that the stigma is so strong, that well intentioned people who would never hurt a child cannot go and get help for these biological urges that they cannot control. Being a pedo is not a choice, the only reason why you and I are not pedos is that we got lucky and have a brain that properly understands sexuality, not because we are morally superior to those with these thoughts they cant get out of their head. Obviously if they rape a child, that is a evil and unforgivable act that should be harshly punished, but simply having an impulse does not make them bad people, providing that they do not act on it. Many pedos are rightly disgusted by their thoughts, but they hide them knowing that if they tried to get help then they will be outcasted by society as an unforgivable monster. If we removed this stigma against non offending pedos, they could get therapy, helping themselves to live better lives and saving many children from being abused. No one would ever chose to be a pedo, and I have sympathy for those pedos who would never hurt a child, but are stuck in a spot of self loathing and disgust, never able to open up to any one about what they are going through. I know this is a really sensitive topic for a lot of people, including me, but I hope that looking at it logically instead of hatefully can make people realize that this will save children from pedos, and pedos from themselves.
