Hi, asking for advice regarding my friend’s case.
My friend has been wearing braces for around 5 years already, but naging inconsistent siya sa follow-up visits. Also, medyo impulsive yung pagpapakabit niya ng braces before, like hindi siya nirequire ng dentist magpa-x-ray, rekta kabit na agad. For context, crowded yung teeth niya prior to braces.
Recently lang, bumalik siya sa dentist and asked bakit hindi siya pina-x-ray before. However, hindi niya nakausap directly yung dentist. Front desk staff lang ata or dental assistant yun. The explanation given was that not all cases require x-ray raw, and baka raw nakita ng dentist na hindi complex yung case.
Fast forward to present: nagpa-x-ray siya and found out he has an impacted wisdom tooth that’s pushing against a molar, which now has decay.
Questions:
- In cases like this, standard ba dapat na may x-ray before braces?
- Given na wala siyang x-ray before treatment, possible ba to ma-consider as negligence?
- May habol ba siya sa dentist (e.g., damages), or mahirap i-prove?
- Would it be better to raise this concern with the same dentist or just move to a new one?
