ev drivers ,what’s one thing non-EV users think is a huge problem but actually isn’t?

before switching I thought charging would constantly be stressful

but day to day it’s honestly way less dramatic than people make it sound

still has issues obviously

but some fears around EVs feel way bigger online than in actual usage

curious what you guys think

what’s one thing people overestimate

battery range isn’t really the issue anymore

it’s more about whether you trust the charger you’re going to

if you trust it → even low % feels fine

if you don’t → even 40% feels risky

so yeah feels less like a “range problem” and more like a “trust problem”

Our Indian roads get narrow by the day. And I find cars parked on each side of the road. Hardly any space to drive. What I find interesting are these tiny EVs, saw them when I was travelling across Europe.

I’m really waiting for such cars to be launched in India. These can be great for city commutes. (For everyone thinking why didn’t I buy nano, I was in school then).

not sure if it’s just me

but there have been times where I’ve thought twice before going somewhere just because I wasn’t sure about charging nearby

like the place itself is fine

just that one doubt in the back of your head

“will I find a working charger or not”

sometimes you go anyway
sometimes you just avoid it

idk, feels like a small thing but it does affect decisions a bit

does this happen with you guys too or not really

idk if it’s just me but it comes and goes

most days it’s fine, you don’t really think about it

but then sometimes you’re low and not 100% sure about the next charger and it hits again

been trying to plan a bit better or just keep backup options in mind

what do you guys usually do when that happens

do you just ignore it or have some way to deal with it

I keep seeing people bring up the same thing

“charging takes 15–20 mins on road trips”

and yeah, that part is true

but how often are you actually doing those long trips

most of the time the car is just charging at home while you’re not even thinking about it

no fuel stops, no detours, nothing

so idk… feels like people focus on that one scenario and ignore how it actually works day to day

maybe I’m wrong though

not even about the % tbh

it’s about how confident you are about the next charge

if that’s sorted, you’re chill

if not, even 30% feels low

idk if range anxiety is actually about “range” anymore

felt it properly once though

maps showed a charger at an MG service center, so I went for it

reached there and yeah the charger was there… but the whole place felt off

almost empty, low lighting, didn’t feel like somewhere you’d just casually stop

for a second I genuinely thought “should I even be here?”

ended up charging anyway but that feeling stayed

made me realise it’s not just battery %, it’s also about how much you trust the place you’re going to

do you guys still feel this or has it mostly gone away for you
