Aluminium box for Mahindra Charger!

My family is the proud owner of Mahindra XEV9E since 2 months now. We got the car in Pack 2 spec and Ruby Velvet colour along with a 7.2kW charger from Mahindra itself. As residents of an apartment society, we were faced by a few issues when getting the charger installed.

  1. Our society does rotational parking space allotment. But for EV users, this is not feasible because the charger installation cannot be changed yearly. So we, along with one of our neighbours, passed a motion to the society regarding fixed allotted parking spaces for EV owners in one corner of the parking area so that we can have a dedicated space for our charger installation.

  2. Since it's a fixed space we were demanding for, we were given a space under the shed, not in one of the "elite" spots or covered parking spaces.
With that came the concern of "weather-proofing" the chargers during monsoons, and also to protect them from the dust.

Because of these issues, we got a fabricator to make this aluminium box for us with powder coating and a wooden plank screwed on the inside at the base. We also had him install locks to the charger so that we can keep jealous on-lookers from damaging or scratching the charger or its cables (just Indian society things). We got him to drill a few holes on the side so that we can shut the whole case even while charging and the heat has a way to exit without hampering our neighbour's parking.

Cost of making and installing: ₹7500 (including material, powder coating, 2 Godrej locks and labour costs).

The result, a simple but functional waterproof box to house the charger, the gun and all the cables. Here are a few pictures of the same. Hope this helps a fellow enthusiast.
