I'm looking to purchase a new handgun to replace my current CCW. I've always loved the 1911 platform and run a full size Government model as my home defense/competition gun. I wanted to get an officer sized 1911, but have always found an issue with the beavertail grip safeties to be far too uncomfortable to carry long term. I've been searching for a GI style grip safety in an officer size, but have been unsuccessful. Perhaps I'm looking for the wrong thing, but I'm having difficulty finding much information on officer model 1911s in general and would appreciate any information someone may have. Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket GI or rat tail style safety for an officer size 1911? Thank you for your time.
