Let me explain better: I filed secondary last summer for diabetes, hypertension, PAD, thrombosis and carotid artery stenosis all secondary to COPD, which was one of my initial approved conditions. I was approved for the hypertension and diabetes. The PAD, thrombosis and carotid artery stenosis were all denied. In the denials for those, the diabetes and hypertension were listed as contributing factors to those conditions. I found this confusing to say that approved conditions were contributing factors, but then deny the claims. I'm not sure if it was because they were approved concurrently? Maybe the examiner reviewed those first and the diabetes and hypertension were reviewed last , so weren't taken into consideration as being approved? Not sure how exactly the order of review is. Regardless, has anyone else had this happen and have luck with a supplemental, submitting the denial stating the approved conditions were contributing factors as new evidence?
