I will preface this by saying I have very little experience with renovations/remodels - this is my first time renovating a kitchen. We have a 1919 home that (thankfully) maintained its beautiful woodwork and built ins. Back in the 80s someone renovated the kitchen (poorly, and in true 80s style). We are finally renovating it, and attempting to bring it back to a more historically accurate look. That being said, we don’t have the budget for inset cabinets. Trying to decide between full or partial overlay. Our designer is really advocating for full overlay; she thinks that most closely resembles inset. This confuses me a bit because I have read that full overlay is a more “modern” look - but I have seen pictures of craftsman style kitchens with full overlay and it does give a more “built in” look. But then I read that partial overlay is a more classic choice. Just want it to look as craftsman style as I can get it - any advice??
