We recently got a lease violation for disturbance and excessive noise past quiet hours. We don’t have downstairs neighbors at the moment and I have a feeling our upstairs neighbors made up a claim because they’ve been consistently banging on our walls and ceiling for normal living noises, such as closing a door (we got a video of them doing this). My husband and I always try to be very considerate of the noise we make and now I feel like I can’t live comfortably with fear of getting evicted. I tip toe around my home and feel like I can’t do anything at night. Noise insulation between the apartments is mediocre, and I constantly hear our upstairs neighbors footsteps and activities. I’m worried once we have a downstairs neighbor they won’t take this into consideration and we’ll receive another lease violation for noise or cure to quit. We have another year before our lease ends and I don’t think I can live like this. We both go to bed early ish and have school/work so it’s not like we’re hosting parties or being obnoxiously loud. The sounds we are getting noise complaints are normal living sounds. I’m positive of this because we are very intentional about making any sounds. Is there a chance we will get evicted?

My upstairs neighbors are insane. We are quiet people, we both work and go to school full time, we don’t have any parties. We both try to be very considerate of our neighbors, but our upstairs neighbors constantly bang on our ceiling/walls when we make any sign of living. This has been going on for months. It’s just beyond me that people live in apartment complexes and don’t expect to hear their neighbors. My husband and I got video today of me shutting the door to our bedroom and them stopping aggressively on their floor after and we sent it to our apartment complex. Is this harassment? What do we do? I feel unsafe, harassed, and like I have to walk on egg shells not to make any noises.
