Banned from my distributor but my music is still live – How can I get it taken down?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice on a frustrating situation. Recently, my distributor banned my account and terminated our agreement. While I’m not here to dispute the ban itself, the issue is that all of my music is still live on streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.), and I no longer have access to the dashboard to request a "takedown."
Since I can't log in, I’ve tried reaching out to their support team via email multiple times, but I’m only getting automated responses or being ignored entirely. It feels like my content is being held hostage while they (presumably) continue to collect the residuals.
Has anyone dealt with this before? Specifically:
• How do I force a takedown if the distributor is unresponsive?
• Can I contact the streaming platforms (DSPs) directly with proof of identity to have the releases removed?
• Are there specific "legal" keywords or departments I should mention in my emails to get a human response?
I want my intellectual property off these platforms immediately since I no longer have a working relationship with the provider. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
