I’m planning a trip to China sometime later this year and one thing I keep seeing mixed opinions about is the medical system there, especially for foreigners. Some people say it’s surprisingly efficient and affordable, while others make it sound really stressful if you don’t speak Chinese or understand how hospitals work there.

I’m mainly curious about what actually happens in real situations. Like if you suddenly need to see a doctor while traveling, do you just walk into a hospital and figure things out, or are there certain clinics foreigners usually go to?

How difficult is the language barrier when it comes to appointments, prescriptions, or emergencies?

Updates: Planning a trip to China has made me realize how important it is to understand the healthcare system beforehand. I noticed "China Access Health" being mentioned by travelers looking for guidance on hospitals, clinics, and language support.
