Did I just score a $399 Garmin Forerunner 970 on eBay… or am I about to get scammed? Update
I deleted my original post because I got spooked by a comment suggesting the item might be stolen goods, and it made me overthink the whole situation. After stepping back, I realized I’m just a normal consumer who bought a listed eBay item through checkout, and there’s nothing inherently wrong with that on my end.
For context, I bought a Garmin Forerunner 970 listed as new for $399 on eBay from a seller with no feedback and recently created account. The price was well below retail, which initially made me pause after buying it, but with the eBay cash back guarantee I figured what’s the worst that could happen?
Surprisingly, It shipped UPS Next Day Air and tracking has been moving normally through hubs. Current status shows delivery to my address sometime today.
At this point I’m honestly just curious how (if at all) a scam in this kind of situation would even work, because everything so far looks like a standard shipment. If it’s legit, then I guess I just happened to get a really good deal.
