I am new here, but definitely not new to pain. I have been suffering for more than 2 years, so many doctors and tests and even surgeries! I don’t get into details but I have some questions about your symptoms.
My pain is very weird. My left sided sacral/hip/back pain get so much worse laying flat, as if there a pressure there deep in my left lower hip/sacral area. Otherwise my pain is very constant , deep, achy, burning, something dislocated, heaviness kinda pain, and because I don’t do much other than walking I have no idea what would make it worse (I am in so much pain I can’t do any physical activity). Walking seems to be the least pain (not pain free). My left lower quadrant feels heavy. I also have a burning sensation deep in the hip/sacral area. Sometimes it changes to a deep throbbing ache. I am very uncomfortable sitting.
Because of a what I believe was unnecessary procedure to drain a cyst on my s1 nerve now I have sciatica too. Before this procedure all the pain was very local. Now goes down to my leg. I have been thinking I got nerve injury from this procedure and forgot the hip, but today I went through my old imaging and I found the MRI front last year which showed the labral tear.
I wanted to follow up with an injection at that time but I saw another hip doctor and because the rotation did not change my pain (it is super constant dull life-draining pain) he told me it is not my hip. My back MRI was clean other than this intrapelvic cyst they drained.
Another reason I didn’t follow up was that the MRI was on the left side and showed the tear, but the xray was done for both sides which showed “same findings” for both sides so I wondered if I had done MRI on right side also it would show the tear but I have pain on the left and that is when I concluded maybe it is not the tear. Also the fact that every time a doctor sent me for an MRI with any indications the MRI said yes! (for example endometriosis which was ruled out with unnecessary laparoscopy). I know I have some nerve damage from the procedure but I still not sure if the original pain was from the hip or the cyst
Sorry about the long post but i guess my questions are:
Most important: Can you kindly take time and describe your pain?
Can you have tear on both sides but severe pain on one side
Is a diagnostic injection definitive?
