Problems with Advisors
I have to rant a little bit about advisors at this school. I'm a freshman and I can confidently say DO NOT trust your advisors with classes. You should decide what's best for you when picking classes, and maybe run it through your advisors, but in my experience they are useless, and just go through the motions, with no real thought into what's best for you. I'm not even mad about that. What I am mad about is how they NEVER answer their emails. Your only job is to respond to students and help them with any questions they may have, how can you not answer your email in a somewhat timely manner. Also, my advisor is "out of the office" from May 3rd to 11th. How in the WORLD are you going to take a vacation at the end of the year when students have the most questions. In this time period that my advisor has been gone I have had more questions and emails sent to her than the entire rest of the year. I received more help on my questions about classes from a literal FRESHMAN who answers phones for 15 dollars an hour at the advising office.
Tennessee, do better and actually look into what your advisors are doing, because I didn't pay my tuition for this bs
As to anyone thinking about applying to UTK, really rethink your choices, because advisors play a huge role, at least for freshman as you are required to meet with them.
