Siddharth should be the flag-bearer of this genre lmao.

The 2000s was the golden era for rom-coms everywhere.

I hadn't watched 'Oh My Friend' and I watched it last year only and oh boyyy I was shocked!! It felt wayyy ahead of its time and I feel like people would have had way more issue with the movie if it released now.

Nowadays I see a lot more incel and rw elements in rom-com/drama whereas when I re-watch the old ones, I feel that they were so wholesome and wayyyy ahead of their time. It's been so freaking long when I enjoyed a recent rom-com film from mainstream telugu cinema. Not that misogynistic or narrow minded tropes didn't exist back then but what I'm noticing is the prominence of incel-esque content in mainstream media. Why so??

Link to the vid-

Her justifications are sooo lame istg!! Randomly putting jealousy allegations and dismissing criticism in the comments when called out.

Expensive≠Good looking. (Honestly, what kind of a lame ahh justification was that? Just because an outfit costs $500 to make, it automatically does not look tacky?)

Half of the discussion didn't even address why their outfits looked "tacky"

Like gurl, if u truly didn't care what "we" think about ur outfits, you wouldn't even hv made the vid in the first place but now since you made the vid, you are dismissing the criticism at ur own convenience.

Their outfits are tacky period. Idk how much copium they all need to justify themselves-

I always used to wonder- Why upper castes who were, are and will be the BIGGEST dihh riders of westerners, criticise Indian Christians and Christianity?

They accuse us of being petty converts, often by using the term "rice bags", oblivious that they are insulting their own religion by suggesting that they have tortured and deprived the lower castes to the point that they had to convert for a mere bag of rice.

They accuse us of copying and appropriating Indian culture while they themselves are appropriating it.

You will observe that Indian Christians uphold their so called "Indian values" more than them. How often do you observe upper castes wearing modest ethnic clothing and religious ornaments daily?

Not that they definitely have to, but since they are the OG "flag bearers and protectors" of Indian culture, this is the least they can do, or they can STFU, stop criticizing and doubting us on our patriotism and "Indian-ness".

They wanna do things like "bhajan clubbing", "bhajan rave" but make fun of us when we integrate Christianity with our culture.

They are desperate to look white and white-passing. They consider it a compliment when someone says they don't look "Indian".

Just observe the pastel lehenga trend or Pinterest-inspired weddings. Well, anyone can wear what they want to but almost all of them lack the regal vibe of maroons/reds and undeniably look western. So many Indian brides are refusing to wear bindi/pottu, nath, chooda and other maximalist jewellery and outfits. (Comfort may play a factor but still)

Why exactly?

You can't convince me otherwise that they are trying to westernize themselves.

They accuse us of betraying "Indian culture" but historically they were the BIGGEST dihh riders of the British.

They get a boner when a palm skinned person becomes a Hindu despite being a 80+% majority in a country of 1.4 billion people.

Same with cuisine.

Beef, pork, non veg becomes impure when we consume it.

But when their palm-skinned ancestors eat it, it is just "protein and fat".

I just love the meltdown they have when they are bashed by right-wing conservatives (whom they idolize the most) for being vegetarian when they do the same to the non vegetarians in India.

NRI upper-castes are literally the worst species of Hindus. On one hand they are crying that they are "oppressed" by the right-wing in US but they do much worse shit in India.

If I had to dumb it down, I see this situation where two guys are competing for the "hot girl" where one of the guys who thinks he is a Chad/Sigma apparently, is constantly pulling down the other guy by accusing him to be a beta/simp/pick-me while he himself is desperate for the attention of the "hot girl". (Definitely not an accurate analogy btw-)
